This page explains what cookies and browser local storage Praktor uses, what they do, and how you can control them. It complements our Privacy Policy.
What are cookies and local storage?
Cookies are small text files a website stores in your browser. Some expire when you close the browser (session cookies); others persist until they expire or you delete them (persistent cookies).
Local storage is a browser feature that lets a website store small amounts of data on your device. Local storage data persists until it is explicitly cleared. It is more common for modern applications than cookies.
What we set
On our public website
Our public website sets no cookies at all. It measures page views using a cookieless analytics method that stores no identifier in your browser and does not track you across other websites. Everything described below applies to the Praktor application, which you sign in to separately.
Strictly necessary cookies
These are required for the Service to work. You cannot opt out of them without losing the ability to sign in.
- Authentication cookies: session tokens that keep you signed in. Set by our authentication provider. HTTP-only (not accessible to JavaScript). Cleared when you sign out.
Functional local storage
These improve your experience but are not essential. They live only in your browser and are not transmitted to our servers.
- Theme preference — remembers whether you picked light or dark mode.
- Active client — remembers which client you were working on so the sidebar shows the right context when you return.
- Log drafts — in-progress log text is auto-saved locally so you don't lose it if the tab crashes. Drafts are cleared when you submit the log.
Analytics local storage
We use a product analytics provider. We have configured it to use local storage only — it does not set any cookies.
- Analytics identity: an anonymous user ID used to group events into a session. Once you sign in, we associate this ID with your account so we can measure feature usage. We also record a sample of sessions to understand how the Service is used — a recording captures the pages you visit and the actions you take, and may include content shown on your screen. Passwords and form fields are always hidden. Where our providers store data is covered in our Privacy Policy.
Error monitoring local storage
We use an error-monitoring provider to capture unhandled errors and performance issues. It also stores data in local storage (not cookies) to correlate errors with sessions.
- Error-monitoring session ID + replay state: lets us group related errors and occasionally record a session replay when an error occurs. Text is masked before the replay leaves your browser, so the recording shows layout and interaction rather than readable content. Where our providers store data is covered in our Privacy Policy.
What we do not set
We do not use, set, or permit third parties to set on our behalf:
- Advertising cookies
- Cross-site tracking cookies
- Social-media pixels (Facebook, LinkedIn, X/Twitter, etc.)
- Cookies used for profiling beyond the product analytics described above
Controlling cookies and local storage
Browser controls
All modern browsers let you see, delete, and block cookies and local storage. Instructions vary:
If you block strictly-necessary cookies, you will not be able to sign in.
In-app controls
You can clear your stored data by:
- Signing out — clears authentication cookies and resets the analytics identity
- Exporting and deleting your account at Settings → Delete Account — removes all server-side personal information associated with you (subject to the grace period and retention windows in our Privacy Policy)
Why we don't show a cookie banner
Praktor operates under Australian law (the Privacy Act 1988) and targets business users. The cookies and local storage we use are either strictly-necessary for authentication or relate to analytics stored locally (not via cookies). Australian privacy law does not require a cookie consent banner for this type of use, provided we disclose the practices clearly — which is what this page does.
If you access the Service from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or another jurisdiction with stricter cookie laws, your rights are preserved through our Privacy Policy and through browser-level controls.
Changes to this policy
We will update this page whenever we add or remove a category of cookies or local storage. The "Last updated" date at the top of the page reflects the most recent change.
